Four Reasons to Get Images of You with your Children | Chicago Family Photography
If you are like many moms I know, you probably have many photos of your babies either on your cell phone or a camera, but not many with YOU in them.
As mothers, either (1) it doesn’t even occur to us to get in the photo because we are too distracted by our cute little ones, (2) we just don’t think it is important for us to be in the picture, since we consider our children the stars of the show, (3) we are too busy/tired to deal with technology and timers, let alone prepare an outfit and get done up, (4) we are always waiting for the perfect moment when everyone is well dressed, behaving, maybe we fell we will take pictures when we look the way we want to look.
Trust me. There will come a time when you will look back and realize that you wish you had gotten more photos with your children.
Here are four reasons to get in front of the camera more:
1. Our children grow so fast, and we do too. We know this and yet find ourselves surprised by it all the time. You want to have images that showcase the different stages of their lives and yours!
2. Photos can hold precious memories. Candid photos can be a way to capture your children being spontaneous – and it can be so fun. They might bring you a flower, give you a kiss, cuddle up to you. Every time you look at these images, you will not just remember the moment, but you will also remember how you felt.
3. Everyday life is as important, if not more, than the milestones. We like to take photos for birthdays, holidays, and special events, but what about the day-to-day? Though we may consider it mundane, this is really how our lives unfold and what we might find ourselves being nostalgic for at some point.
4. If you don’t do it for yourself, do it for them! Children love to see their parents' pictures; it helps them understand their place in a family and makes them feel very loved.
Hopefully, these resonate with you, and whether it is via your camera’s timer, with me, or with another photographer, I invite you to get in more photos with your children and learn to enjoy it!
And if you are now feeling very inspired to get some family photos – you are in luck! I have a special event planned just in time for mother’s day 2021 that might be the perfect opportunity for you to jump in.
